1951 Topps Red Backs  & Blue Backs

The Topps Company, launched its inaugural baseball card set in 1951, known as the "Red and Black." This set, featuring 52 cards, measures around 2 inches by 2 5/8 inches and showcases black and white photographs of players against vibrant red, white, yellow, and green backgrounds. Each card includes the player's name, their record from 1950, and additional details on the front.

The Red Back set shares a similar design with the 1951 Topps Blue Back set, which features different players. Both sets have rounded corners and were intended for use in a baseball game. The Red Back cards are labeled as "A Series," while the Blue Back cards are marked as "B Series." These cards were sold in penny packs, each containing two connected cards and a piece of caramel, with a total of 120 packs per box. Although printed on sturdy stock, making them relatively durable, these cards are now considered rare and feature few star players.
