1975 Hostess Snacks Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

1975 Hostess has 150 cards, which there are 6 Cubs players and a couple errors.

Size of Cards

The cards, when cut properly, measure 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" and the 3 card panels measure approximately 3 1/4" by 7 1/4".

Basic Features

From 1975 to 1979, Hostess Bakeries included baseball cards on the exterior of their snack cake boxes. These cards were typically arranged in a three-card panel, with the front card displayed at the bottom of the box, eliminating any surprise about which cards you would receive. Each card featured a printed border reminiscent of grocery coupons, and it was your responsibility to cut them out. The original collection comprised 150 cards, organized into 50 panels of three cards each. Some panels were exclusively found on boxes of less popular products, making them rarer. This was the first significant release featured on the bottoms of specially marked Hostess snack cake boxes, including King Dongs, Cup Cakes, and Twinkies.

In the eastern regions, they referred to them as 'King Dons', while in the Midwest, they were known as 'Ding Dongs'. Additionally, some areas in the US offer packages of 'Big Wheels'. If you gather Hostess packages, you'll discover that all three of these are essentially the same treat.
