1971 Cubs

Number of Cards

1971 Topps grew to a new high of 752 cards

Size of Cards

Standard size , which measure 2½” by 3½”.

Basic Features

The fronts of these cards contain a large color photograph of the player with a thin white border. The background of the cards is black, which makes NM cards hard to find. The players' team is located in large type at the top of the card, and just below that is the player's name and position. A facsimile autograph is located near the middle of the card.

The backs of these cards feature a major difference from previous years: Topps included a small black and white photograph to go along with limited stats featuring the players' first pro and major league games, plus a short biography.

Subsets include
Statistical Leaders (LL)
World Series (WS)
Playoff (CS) highlight cards.

Released in 6 series;
series 1 (1-132)
series 2 (133-263)

The high series cards (634-720) are scarce and demand a premium.
