Basic Features
Created in 1898, this collection ranks among the earliest known baseball memorabilia. They are so old that the team was originally called the Chicago Orphans from 1898 to 1901, although they are still recognized as the Cubs, just an earlier name. The front of the pin features a headshot of a player with the player's name inscribed along the edge. The reverse side displays an advertisement for Cameo Pepsin Gum, indicating that the gum is produced by the American Pepsin Gum Company located in Newark, New Jersey. These pins are categorized as PE4 by the American Card Catalog.
