2009 Upper Deck Goudey

2009 Upper Deck Goudey is a great set to collect. Upper Deck had a good idea in its 3 year run of Goudey products it’s an inexpensive way to put together a great set which includes many inserts and subsets. Cubs had a big draw this year with many Short Prints (SP) and many Inserts. Unfortunately the 2010 Upper Deck Deck agreed not to release any future baseball card products so the Goudey line ended there. Here is the base set:

Chicago Cubs Checklist

37 Derrek Lee
38 Kosuke Fukudome
39 Aramis Ramirez
40 Alfonso Soriano
41 Kerry Wood

I know woody shouldn’t be in here he was on the Indians team at the time, but with the Cubs uniform and my favorite player can’t blame me for tossing him in.
Tomorrow we will check into the SPs and some of the inserts so stay tuned and good luck on Doomsday!!!

1935 Goudey Baseball otherwise known as 4-in-1's (R321)

The 1935 Goudey Baseball  were essentially just color reproductions of images taken from the 1933 Goudey. The backs of these cards are designed as small pieces in 9 different puzzle combinations. The various puzzles depicted Mickey Cochrane, Tiger Team, Frankie Frisch, Joe Cronin, Chuck Klein, Indians Team, Al Simmons, Senators Team, and Jimmie Foxx.

Cubbies had only one card but some of the all time greats were included Grimes, Kiki, Klien, and English.

The back of this card  was one of nine pieces that made up a Frankie Frisch puzzle picture.

The other 8 pieces made up this photo

2012 Topps Tier One Clear Rookie Reprint Autographs

When I first saw these cards it was a must have and I finally got the pair. Clear Rookie Reprint Autographs use classic rookie cards and step it up a few notches. Printed on clear acetate, a window is left for the autograph, which can be seen on both sides of the card. Card backs come with an original design that includes a short bio. Unfortunately they are number to 25 and make it hard to collect.

12-12-12 a Look into the Future

Today is 12-12-12, the last major numerical date for almost another century.

Let's go back a century and see what the Cubs were up to.
The Cubs finished the season in 3rd place but surpass 90 wins posting a record of 91-59.

This black-and-white panoramic postcard shows the entire 1912 West Side Grounds Chicago Cubs Baseball Park. A caption near the top left corner reads, "Chicago National League Baseball Park - 'Cubs'," and another near the other end panel's top right reads, "Copyright & Publishing 1912 By Max Rigot. 37 S. Wabash Ave. - Chicago."

Lets look at the games played on the 12th from last century to the next century.

from the effects of the polar shift in 2052 there is no east coast or west coast teams left but the game has a world wide influence

1909 Briggs E97 Chicago cubs

In 1909, the C.A. Briggs Company Lozenge Makers of Boston Mass. released a 30 subject baseball card set to promote their brand. Regarded as one of the rarest “E” card issues ever produced, only three Hall of Famers are included. One of the best parts of this set are the exceedingly rare black and white versions of these cards called "proofs" which have a significantly higher price tag than their standard 30 player checklist regular issue counterparts.
