Basic Features

The 1964 Topps Coins baseball set was included in Topps wax packs. It is divided into two categories: 120 "regular" coins and 44 All-Star players. These full-color coins feature a player portrait with a banner at the bottom displaying the player's name, position, and team. The regular set consists of 120 coins, comprising 60 National League players with silver backs and rims, and 60 American League players with gold backs and rims. The reverse side of each coin contains personal information such as height, weight, and the player's batting or throwing hand (for pitchers), along with a brief narrative. The 44-coin All-Star set (PX-18) includes 22 American League players depicted on blue coins with gold backs and 22 National League players on red coins with silver backs. Each coin's front features a top banner stating "1964 ALL STARS" and a bottom banner with the player's name. The portraits typically show half-body images in various action poses, differing from the images found on the PX-17 coins. The back of each coin lists the player's name, team, and position, along with the coin number, a short narrative, and the phrase 'COLLECT ALL 44 SPECIAL ALL STARS'.
