The Dietz Gum Company of Chicago issued an unusual baseball-themed gum wrapper promotion featuring a generic illustrated baseball player paired with a real photographic face. The cards featured tabs with the bottom, which could be folded so the players could stand up on a game board.

After pitching for the Cubs, Demaree began working as a newspaper cartoonist. Following the conclusion of his athletic career, he was hired to illustrate several baseball card sets during the 1930s.
